Officers Reports:

 

President: Kim Smith:

No tax updates as of yet.  Safety deposit now rented.  Bank account switched over to present board members. 

 

Conference dinner went well…Ordered from Bella Italian.  Teachers liked it and appreciated it.  Looking into increasing the budget due

to an increase in staff.

 

Michelle Bodensteiner: Treasurer:

Was absent.  Kim Smith did report.  Treasures report was read and approved by Donna Britt and seconded by Troy Norman. 

Fourth grade field trip to Living History Farms was paid for.  We went $63.00 over budget for Fun Night.  Classroom magazines were paid,

for the year.

Corri Kendall: Secretary:

Minutes of September meeting read and approved by Donna Britt and seconded by Karla Weibers. 

Get well Balloon bouquets were sent to Jacob Swinton for breaking his leg and Reyes Hernandez for breaking his arm.

 

 

Principal’s report:  Fluency club will meet on Mon. Wed. and Fri.  Goal is to get better accuracy and quickness when reading.  Given $8100

to improve this by the district.  Conferences:  If parents didn’t show they will be contacted.  Show case frames in the lobby..will continue to

show pictures of special student achievement.  Students to perform at PTO meetings.  Such as plays and readings.  Sacks..students encouraged

to bring plastic sacks to recycle.  Smiles for education:  fill out forms at Hy-Vees. Could win $5000 for the school and the student will win a new

laptop.  K-kids have been working on soup labels and box-tops.    

 

Open Forum:

 

Troy and Julie Norman brought information to review about the JDRF.  Given to Karla Weibers to review and will discuss at a later meeting.

 

Will look into different service projects for the different grades.

 

Talked about absence policy….Terrie Price looking into what is excused and what isn’t.  Talked about there only being two unexcused absences

per year, as opposed to six per semester last year.  She will let us know what she finds out. 

 

The pop-a-top container in the teachers lounge is filling up.

 

Old Business:

 

Walkathon:  Was a huge success and a great day weather-wise.  We exceeded our goal and raised $12,195 total.  Special thanks to Andrea Clark,

Julie and Troy Norman, Leigh Custard, Michelle Bodensteiner , for all their hard work.  Also special thanks to all the volunteers for their time and

effort.  Thanks to the K-kids for the special thank-you notes they wrote.

Partytime fundraiser:  Oct 10th thru the 22nd.  The goal gave to the representative was recess equipment and indoor recess games.  Dec. 4th was

expected delivery date for merchandise. 

 

Quiznos night:  Sept. 1st …not great turn out.  We made $74.  Next night is Nov. 8th

 

Red Ribbon Week:  PTO buying tulips to be planted and bloom in the spring. 

 

Class Photos:  pictures were taken Oct. 5th.  Getting orders in that are due Nov. 5th.  All  moneys will go to the 5th grade party at the end

of the year. 

 

Spirit wear:  starts oct.29th and ends Nov.7th.  This isn’t a fundraiser.  Delivery expected by Christmas break.

 

New Business:

 

Yearbook: 

 

 

Fire Prevention Week:  Assembly on Friday 1-1:30.  Students will make posters and be judged.  The best will be awarded at the assembly. 

 

Harvest Party: Nov. 21st 2-2:43 pm.  Shelia Warrick is committee chair.  Students will play games and get prizes for participating.  Will be

given a treat.

 

Adventureland passes to 5th grade.  Student will no longer be wiping tables to get this pass.  Terrie will find another way for them to earn

this pass. 

 

November PTO meeting will be the 6th at 6:30 in the Art Room. Childcare will be provided by Nanny2shoes.
