PLAYGROUND MAKE-OVER As teachers, parents and students head back to our school this Fall there are bound to be several noticeable changes that have taken place over the summer both on the inside and the outside of our school. The PTO and Playground Committee are very proud to show off our newly refurbished castle playground. It was in dire need of several repairs and a major cosmetic make over. This past Spring the PTO and the Playground Committee began asking for donations to help us pay for the refurbishing project. We were so pleasantly surprised at the strong support we received from our community. Thanks to the generous donations from the City of Pleasant Hill, Allied Insurance, Mayor Phil Hildebrand, Gene and Martha Miller and, most recently, the Pleasant Hill Chamber of Commerce, our project was able to move forward without delay. The structure was closed after school dismissed in June while James Accord and his staff at Mobile Wash of Iowa power washed, stained/sealed the entire wooden structure . . . which was no small task. During this time the DMPS District staff also worked to make the needed repairs so the castle was in good working order and safe for all who come to play and enjoy. Despite some vandalism and a few weather related issues, the project was completed in just a few weeks. A Playground Event/Ribbon Cutting was held during our Open House on Tuesday, August 22 to show off our newly stained castle to all those who helped make the refurbishment possible . . . including parents, teachers and students. The PTO and Playground Committee are always coming up with new ideas to improve our already spectacular playground so stay tuned for changes in the future. And once again we thank everyone for their support of our wonderful school! | |||||||||||||||||
