Tuesday, March 3rd

 

Meeting called to order by Kim Smith @ 6:40pm

13 in attendance

 

PRESIDENTS REPORT:  KIM SMITH---will discuss toward the end of the meeting

 

VICE PRESIDENTS REPORT: JENNIFER BRAAFART: no report

 

SECRETARY REPORT: CORRI KENDALL

TREASURES REPORT: MICHELLE BODENSTEINER:

Magazine sales totaled $3997.  We get a percentage of this.  We gave the Dupovic family a $50 gift certificate due to

death of the father.  Staff Supper for conferences budgeted for $140.  Friendship Party supplies paid for.  Smile Fund was

$5011.96 paid out.

PRICIPLES REPORT: TERRI PRICE

We are recruiting pre-k kids for Kindergarten.  We will be offering summer school for  4 weeks with  two teachers and 40

kids to help the preschool be ready for fall Kindergarten. 

ITBS pump it up week- activities planned for the week before to get kids ready for tests.  PTO will purchase snacks the days

they are taking the tests.  ITBS will be taken March 31st thru April 4th

VIP Day will be from 1:30 to 3:20.  The Book Fair will have extended time so classes can get thru it better. 

There is no parking in the circle drive.  Students are being tardy due to traffic issues.  If you have to go in the school in the

morning, please park in the spaces in the front or the pull in drive for the busses.

Receiving a grant for the field trip to the Science Center for first grade.

 

OLD BUISNESS:

Polk county grant was filled out and hand delivered by Jennifer.  We applied for $7400 for soccer goals and nets/2 Dance

Revolation projectors and games.  We will find out in April if we get it.

 

Tile Wall Project:  Approximately $5000 brought in.  Check request for $1700 for the tiles that will go on the wall. This is

coming from the Smiles Fund given by Hy-Vee.  Tiles are shipped and shipping will be free due to the company error. 

 

Field Day T-shirts;  Each Grade will keep the same color and black Pleasant Hill shorts will be offered at the same time. 

Kim is checking on the dates the forms will go home.

 

Honor Choir had been cancelled due to lack of interest by the students.

 

The 5th Grade Des Moines Symphony field trip check has been mailed.  They will go April 4th from 10:30 – 12:30

 

Conference Supper for teachers: Check was given to Fred Horstman Catering.  We are looking into increasing the budget

for this because of increased staff. 

 

NEW BUISNESS:

Preschool is requesting and increase of $45 for the bus for their Zoo field trip. Vote taken and approved.

 

Brain Food for the ITBS test takers.  Let Kim know what is wanted so it can be bought ahead of time.

 

Magazine weekly readers orders: Would like to know what the teachers want.  Election Weekly readers will be purchased

for 4th and 5th grades and come from this years budget. 

 

The 5th Grade Party;  Meeting scheduled Monday March 10th to plan for this event.  Class Photo money will pay for this. 

 

VIP Day:  Sarah Reese is in charge.  Cookies and punch will be provided after lunch activities.  Preschool will be here from

10:30-11 AM and the Book Fair will be open.

 

Fundraising feedback:  We received 37 responses from the letters that were sent home regarding fundraising and what people

would like to keep doing.  The Walkathon, the Fall Product Sale and the Magazine fundraisers were the top three.  A vote was

taken by the people that attended the meeting.  Elected to keep Walkathon, Fall Product Sale and Magazine Sales.  Also voted

to go with Mr. “Z” for the Fall Fundraiser.

Next meeting will be April 8th @ 6:30 in the Art room.  Childcare will be provided by Nanny-2-shoes.
